Rate: Competitive hourly rate £25–£27 per hourHunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Histopathology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Manchester. This is an excellent role for someone looking to enhance their skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting while contributing to a high-demand department.Key Responsibilities:Embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), and sectioning across a range of tissue typesOperate histopathology equipment (e.g., Leica or Thermo microtomes)Ensure quality control and compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 standardsMaintain accurate documentation and adhere to laboratory SOPsSupport junior staff and assist with training if requiredEssential Requirements:HCPC-registered Biomedical ScientistMinimum of 1 year UK experience working in a Histopathology labProficiency in microtomy (preferred block count: 30–40/hour)Familiarity with quality assurance processes and UKAS standardsDesirable:Previous NHS experienceExperience with digital pathology systemsKey Benefits:Market-leading pay ratesFlexible contracts in top NHS labs
