Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Mainly responsible for permit office work relating to writing, issuing and signing off on permits to work
- The day-to-day management of a team of Shift Operators / Shift Technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of a high-pressure boiler, generator and auxiliary plant.
- Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
- Maximising waste input and energy production
- Chairing daily meetings after a shift handover to review health, safety & environmental issues, overnight activities and plans for the shift ahead.
- Acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching and carrying out mechanical and electrical isolations.
- Working with the maintenance department when required to ensure maximum plant availability.
The role also involves being on call 1 in 7 weekends which you will be paid for
Professional qualificationsWe are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally a HNC/HND is a relevant engineering discipline
- An IOSH or NEBOSH certificate
- HV Senior Authorised Person
- Prior experience working in a senior operations role within the Power sector will be essential
- Excellent knowledge of safe systems of work procedures
- HV switching experience would be ideal
- A salary of £62,849
- Location living allowance of £2,654 per annum
