
Senior Pharmacist - Women's and Children's

- Lead and support the pharmacy Service provided to the Women & Children's Directorate, which includes children's ward, children's outpatients, Special Care Baby Unit, Community Children's Nursing, School Nursing & Health Visitors, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology inpatients and outpatients.
- Work closely with the consultants in the Directorate, the lead and specialist nurses and midwives, and other staff members associated with the pharmacy service to the Women & Children's Directorate.
- To be a proactive member of the Network Neonatal and Women's Health Pharmacists Group contributing to developments to improve healthcare outcomes.
- Be responsible for coordinating specialist pharmacy clinical services to the Directorate, oversee and investigate medicines related safety incidents in the Directorate, monitor financial and clinical governance in the Directorate.
- Lead on evidence-based prescribing advice to ensure effective, appropriate, sustainable, cost-effective and safe use of medicines and promote patient-centred care for all patients.
- Lead and support the review or development of guidelines for the prescribing, administration and storage of medicines to facilitate good practice in the Directorate, working closely with regional trusts.
- MPharm & registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
- Post graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience
- Independent Prescribing Qualification or prepared to be working towards this
- Evidence of CPD and study beyond registration in line with requirements for revalidation and demonstrating commitment to lifelong learning.
- Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
- Post Graduate qualifications relating to Paediatric or Obs & Gynae specialist care or be willing to work towards this
- Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of clinical pharmacy practice relating to Women & Children's Services
- Able to process complex clinical information in an accurate and timely manner
- Able to communicate effectively using a variety of methods (written, verbal, presentation) with a wide range of people across the organisation.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of best practice and legal requirements relating to medicines storage, prescribing and administration
- Significant post registration experience in a hospital / primary care pharmacy setting with a proportion of time in a clinical role
- Significant post registration experience in a hospital/primary care pharmacy setting with a proportion of time in a clinical role
- Experience in motivating teams
- MPharm & registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
