Due to the nature of our client’s work, the successful applicant would need to either already hold or be able to obtain SC Security Clearance. For this reason, we can only progress with applications from British nationals.Data Centre Engineer duties will include:Firstly, loading/unloading backup media tapesOrdering/Off-siting of mediaLikewise, track of all mediaProgression of quarterly media auditsReviewing site access requests for both planned (IMAC) and incident requestsLiaising with requestors to make sure accounts have the correct approvals in place for any onsite workIssuing of access lists to security so that pre-notified engineers can gain access to siteAcceptance of pre-notified delivery and collections to siteAlso, stores managementAuthorisation and preparation of scheduled delivery listsInfrastructure Support and Hands and Eyes tasksProvide basic onsite support for any issues with equipment in the data halls, acting as the hands and eyes of the remote specialist engineer - reporting LED status, reseat modules, etc. Unresolved issues are then escalated internally to resolve, or logged out to external providers to remedy e.g.: maintenance supplier for hardware faultsWhat we are looking for:Firstly, a basic understanding of IT operations in a large organisationStrong loyalty regarding data and DC facility securityAbility to work precisely and quality orientedMaturity, high level of reliability & sense of responsibilitylastly, be flexible and willing to deal with unexpected problems and situationsA general technical orientationFirstly, competent and professional communication with a commercial attitude over the phoneUnderstand and clarify customer expectations effectivelyCapacity to manage customer expectations and interactions effectivelyAlso, basic understanding of IT infrastructureAbility to handle various types of media, devices, and librariesMedia management experienceProficiency in using Microsoft applications (O365)Finally, have a basic understanding of NetworkingApply for in Gloucestershire todayIf you would like tips on how to from the crowd, we hope you find this blog usefulAre you preparing for a job interview?
