The roleAs a Risk Analyst within the LR Maritime Decarbonisation Hub (MDH) you will be involved in detailed assessment of the safety of alternative fuels and the associated technology. You will also research developments in maritime decarbonisation and assist in updates to the MDH’s Zero Carbon Fuel Monitor. This work will contribute to the MDH’s overall objective of accelerating the decarbonisation of the maritime sector through providing evidence based insight to enable informed decision making.What you bring
  • Research latest developments in decarbonisation technology;
  • Participate in hazard identification workshops with multi-disciplinary teams comprising specialists from LR and external organisations;
  • Use modelling software to analyse the potential consequences of accidents involving alternative fuels (such as fires, explosions and toxic gas clouds);
  • Conduct analysis of the likelihood of such accidental events using available industry data and techniques such as event tree analysis; and,
  • Compile written reports of the studies performed.
  • Familiarity with the techniques mentioned above is an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
You are someone who:
  • Has a good interpersonal skills, enabling you to work well with other team members;
  • Is practical, adaptable and well organised approach - and the ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Has Flexibility to travel within the UK and overseas to participate in meetings or workshops – up to a maximum of 2 weeks away from home may be required;
  • Is able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Has strong competency with MS Office packages, particularly Excel;
  • Has preferably (but not essentially) 1-2 years of relevant experience.
The role is UK based but location is flexible – either London or Southampton.
