Specifications TechnologistBased in Carlton, BarnsleyPermanentWould suit either fresh graduate or experienced Specifications TechnologistWorking as part of a great team and reporting into the Senior Specification Technologist, this role is varied and is required to maintain specifications for raw materials supplied to Premier Foods. Collation, validation, and accurate input of data is required into Premier Foods RM specification databases. The role is required to request, process, review and approve ingredient specifications for raw materials supplied to Premier Foods using our Hamilton Grant specification system. Ensuring provision of data is conducted in a timely manner and to the correct “Gold” standard as well as ongoing maintenance of data to ensure all information is correct, accurate and to the agreed standard.   • Junior - qualifications as required but no/little food industry/spec writing experience.
  • Experienced Technologist - current experience within Food Industry and/or 2+ years specification writing experience.
  • Food or Science Based Degree/qualification
  • IT Competent.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple fast paced tasks/projects whilst delivering results against tight deadlines
  • Ability to transfer data accurately with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work without supervision and on own initiative, self-motivated/driven.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to align with the company Leadership Values
What you'll be doing...?
  • Dealing with specification requests (both internally and with the suppliers).
  • Prompt action of new RM requests via the NIC database as required.
  • Requesting, checking, processing, approving, and maintaining raw material specifications on the Hamilton Grant specification database as required in conjunction with internal teams and the suppliers.
  • Dealing directly with Premier Foods raw material suppliers as required.
  • Ensuring all necessary information on the raw material specification is completed and correct to enable the generation of accurate finished product specifications and product labels which meet with all relevant legislation.
  • Provide support and knowledge of systems and products to other team members and to Premier Foods technical divisions.
  • Liaise with the Factory Technical Managers, R&D and Procurement to provide the support necessary to ensure products are compliant with the customer specifications.
  • Validation with suppliers to confirm claims such as vegan society approval etc.
  • Answering queries and providing technical information for ingredients including allergens, country of origin, shelf life and nutritional information etc as required.
  • Provision of reports and completion of questionnaires and databases as and when required.
