Job Type: Full-time, ContractAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Adults Team in Guildford. As a Senior Social Worker within the Adult Services Team, you will provide advanced social work expertise to support adults with diverse needs, including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health issues, and safeguarding concerns. You will be responsible for managing complex cases, leading assessments, and ensuring interventions are person-centred, empowering, and compliant with relevant legislation such as the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.Your role will involve supervising less experienced colleagues, contributing to service improvements, and working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to promote independence and well-being for service users.Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake complex, strengths-based assessments to identify needs, risks, and desired outcomes for service users and carers.
- Develop and review person-centred care plans that promote independence and quality of life.
- Apply statutory frameworks such as the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding policies to deliver lawful and effective interventions.
- Work with service users to explore all available options, including access to community resources, direct payments, and commissioned services.
- Lead on safeguarding investigations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Coordinate multi-agency meetings to manage risk and ensure robust protection plans are in place.
- Act as a safeguarding champion, offering guidance and expertise to team members and partner organisations.
- Provide professional supervision and mentoring to social workers, care coordinators, and students, supporting their development and ensuring quality practice.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex cases, providing expert advice and decision-making support.
- Contribute to the induction and ongoing training of team members.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with health, housing, voluntary sector, and other agencies to deliver holistic support for service users.
- Represent Adult Services in multi-agency forums, ensuring effective communication and joint decision-making.
- Advocate for service users to access appropriate support and challenge barriers to effective service delivery.
- A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Substantial post-qualification experience in adult mental health services, including complex case management.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Experience in safeguarding adults and managing risk in multi-agency contexts.
- Advanced assessment, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with service users, carers, and professionals.
