We welcome applications from all backgrounds.What will you be doing?We are currently recruiting for 2 x Wood Machinists for our site in Hull (HU9 5SG). As Wood Machinist, you will be responsible and accountable for the safe and effective setting and running of a production wood cutting machine and/or an edge-banding machine, ensuring that all H&S procedures are being adhered to.Key responsibilities in your role as Wood Machinist include:
  • To ensure the production plan is carried out, reporting any problems or deviations from the plan with the Front Line Manager in a timely manner.
  • To ensure all start-ups and product changes are carried out efficiently and safely.
  • To highlight any raw material issues related to the completion of the production plan and implement agreed solutions where possible.
  • To ensure the agreed quality standards are achieved for products, and all relevant quality checks are carried out and documented to the agreed procedure.
  • Report any deviations from standards to QC and your Front Line Manager immediately.
  • Where applicable, ensure a suitable and sufficient handover has taken place with the oncoming shift.
  • Where necessary, use PC’s to access MS Office documents relative to the role.
  • To be responsible for the health & safety of all production personal within your work area, and to ensure that all H&S documentation is completed as required.
  • To support and train other personnel working on the machinery, documenting formal training when required.
  • To carry out the machine maintenance and cutter maintenance when required.
  • To carry out minor mechanical maintenance tasks as agreed – under no circumstances must any electrical work be carried out.
  • To ensure housekeeping is to the agreed standards, and to take the necessary actions when it falls below standard.
  • To fully participate in training and personal development as required.
  • Adhere to Kingspan policies and procedures.
  • You may be expected to do any work that is required, which is commensurate with your capabilities and experience, and you may be required to undertake other tasks, which are reasonably asked of you.
Compliance:
  • Adhere to the company’s compliance obligations, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Report compliance concerns, issues, and failures.
  • Participate in training as required.
What do you need?
  • You need previous experience in a fast-paced production environment on a wood machining line.
  • Having a valid B2 Counterbalance forklift licence would be advantageous to the role.
  • You should have Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Take a flexible approach to working patterns, which are likely to change over time to meet business demands.
  • You may be expected to do any work that is required, which is commensurate with your capabilities and experience, and you may be required to undertake other tasks, which are reasonably asked of you. Duties will change over time, and the job holder will be expected to cooperate where such changes are reasonable.
