Job Overview - Older Person Mental Health Nurse Band 6Part time 37.5 hours a weekA specialist opportunity has arisen for an Older People Mental Health Liaison Practitioner to work within our friendly and supportive liaison service (OPMH) based at St Richard's General Hospital, Chichester.The Post cover attendances in the Emergency Department and St Richards Hospital wardsThe role is as part of a multi-disciplinary team providinghigh standards of assessments and treatment for older people (65 and older) admitted to St Richard's.This post offers the Trust's £2,000 Golden Hello or Relocation Incentive for Band 6 Nurses & Practitioners, (pro rata and subject to terms and conditions; please see attached Protocol Document for full details).Main duties of the jobMain duties of the job
  • To provide comprehensive assessments/ risk assessments of mental health specific to the needs of the client, in line with the ethos and targets of the liaison service.
  • To manage clients 65 years and over with complex mental health needs, considering how risks can be best managed within a general hospital environment.
  • To be able to communicate with and meet the needs of families and carers as appropriate to the care group and the individual client.

You will have excellent communication and assessment skills and a working knowledge of physical health conditions.You must be confident in your ability to support patients with complex mental illnesses and their families/carers.
