- To deliver a skilled and professional engineering service. Ensuring that all responsive and planned works tasked, including monitoring and record keeping, are undertaken in an effective, efficient and safe manner.
- To provide technical expertise in steel construction, metal fabrication and automated/manual mechanical solutions.
- Conduct thorough inspections and identify potential issues with animal containment systems, slides and doors ensuring they are safe and operating correctly.
- Identify and resolve complex mechanical issues with regards to remote slide and door operation.
- Repair and identify damaged components of building fabric and equipment.
- To maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal health and safety and for those around you.
- To be part of and maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability.
- To achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources.
- Hours of work are 40 per week, working predominantly 07:30 - 16:10, Monday to Friday. Working rostered weekends to support the operations of the Zoo.

- Salary from £30,000 - £31,929 per annum dependant on experience

- To be timed served with a recognised qualification in fabrication & welding.
- Broad technical knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques, with a high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of requirements with regards to Mechanical upkeep of equipment - LOLER & PUWER.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety for the construction industry and capable of working within a highly controlled environment.
- Preferably hold a PASMA mobile scaffolding certificate.
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- To have the ability to solve problems and adhere to H&S guidelines.
- To be self-motivated, resourceful, flexible and have a willingness to learn.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs and maintenance statuses.
- Capable of working as part of a team.
- Be courteous and respectful within a busy, public facing organisation.
