ABC Teachers is seeking a Head of Humanities to lead and shape a dynamic Humanities curriculum that inspires SEN learners across History, Geography, and Citizenship within a School.The Role:Lead the Humanities department, developing a creative, accessible curriculum for students with MLD, SEMH, and autism.Teach engaging lessons across key Humanities subjects, tailored to diverse learning needs.Support and mentor colleagues to ensure high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning.Contribute to whole-school leadership and the development of cross-curricular learning experiences.About the School:A welcoming SEN school in Birmingham supporting learners aged 11–18 with moderate learning difficulties, autism, and SEMH needs.Strong emphasis on personalised learning, therapeutic support, and student wellbeing.Inclusive culture with a highly collaborative and supportive staff team.Ongoing professional development, with leadership training and wellbeing support available to all staff.The RequirementsTo be considered for the Head of Humanities position, you will:
  • Have a suitable qualification to teach such as PGCE or BEd.
  • Have experience of working with children with special educational needs.
  • Be confident in your abilities to engage students who may have lost an interest in education.
  • To be able to help to build a child’s independence, social and emotional development.
