This role will allow you to apply your academic background, share your enthusiasm for English and gain first-hand classroom experience.Key ResponsibilitiesAs an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Provide 1:1 and small group academic support in reading, writing, and analysis
- Help students stay engaged and motivated in their learning
- Assist with classroom organisation, lesson preparation, and behaviour management
- Encourage pupils to explore creative outlets such as reading, debating, and writing clubs
- Contribute to wider school life through enrichment activities and mentoring
- A 2:1 or higher in English Literature, English Language, or a related subject
- A genuine passion for English and for sharing that passion with young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, empathetic, and resilient attitude
- An interest in progressing into teacher training or a long-term career in education
- Some experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
- Ongoing training, CPD, and mentoring from experienced English teachers passionate about supporting graduates
