Senior Project ManagerLocation:LondonDepartment:Not SpecifiedSalary Details:Not SpecifiedAdvertising End Date:Not SpecifiedJob DescriptionThis role is a once in a career opportunity to play a lead project management role on a transformational Finance Systems project. News UK is in the process of investing in and transforming our Finance Systems landscape. We will not only be moving our core ERP system to S/4 HANA, but also implementing new additional systems including those for Procurement, Contingent Workforce and various other activities.Your role: As Senior Project Manager , your role will be to perform key project management responsibilities across the broad remit of the programme. This role will report directly to the Finance Transformation Programme Manager and will also work closely with both the Finance, Functional, Workstream and Technical Leads to ensure quality delivery across the programme.Day to day you will:
  • Project management activities for specified delivery areas in the programme
Maintain the necessary programme delivery framework controls and templates, and ensure these are adhered to by the programme team (including the System Implementation (SI) Partner and any other 3rd parties)Provide project leadership for multiple workstreams and functional areasWork closely with the programme team, particularly the key workstreams and other project managers, to ensure robust plans are in place and that these are integrated into a single programme plan against which progress and status can be tracked and reportedWork with the SI Partner in managing the programme's document and knowledge library, ensuring that all assets are available and up to dateWork closely with the Tech teams ensuring plans, risks and ongoing activities are managed effectivelyDevelop and maintain weekly reporting, working closely with project managers to get the necessary inputs for accurate reportingSupport the programme manager to develop Steering Committee reports and supporting materialSupporting additional adhoc requests on the programme such as audit/ governance / compliance document requestsOwn and manage the programme RAID log, and provide reporting and escalation on these when required. Work closely with the necessary team members to close items as soon as possible.All colleagues will have to work together as a team, supported by leadership, to deliver this programme. This also means there may be times when everyone has to support other workstreams at peak load times.What we are looking for from you:We're looking for an experienced project manager, with a track record of delivering this capability within a large scale and complex programme, including:
  • Experience of successfully managing one or more projects within a large or complex programme
Experience of ERP programmes is essentialHave strong technical, functional and business knowledgeAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with effective time management and prioritisationBe extremely proactive and be prepared to 'lean into' challenges and challenging situations when they ariseHave working experience of project management methodologies (although specific methodologies are not mandated)Deputise for the programme manager in supporting critical areas of deliveryA proactivity to be curious; pre-empt issues, challenge, ask the right questions and propose solutions rather than wait for questionsBe able to cut through complexity and get to the 'so what?', enabling effective communication to senior leadership and providing clear, polished, and concise outputsCalmness under pressure and an expert ability in problem solving under ambiguityWe are News UK: One of the leading media businesses in the UK and Ireland.
