Working on a range of industry leading utilities infrastructure projects cross the Midlands and beyond.As a Project Director, you will play a key role in both the technical and operational aspects of our projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead exciting assignments while developing your professional capabilities.We are seeking a Director or Project Director with proven experience managing teams, leading business development efforts, and successfully delivering construction and infrastructure projects. Pre- and post-contract experience with NEC contracts is essential, along with a strong track record in delivering cost management services across a broad client base.Key Responsibilities
- Support the Cost Centre Director in achieving business objectives
- Positively engage with clients to build and maintain long-term relationships
- Deliver high-quality cost management services that meet or exceed client expectations
- Manage projects in accordance with company procedures, ensuring excellence in service delivery
- Prepare and present cost estimates, feasibility studies, and option appraisals
- Deliver robust cost planning, benchmarking, and cost-in-use assessments
- Advise on and implement procurement strategies
- Value completed works and manage payment processes
- Lead on final account settlements
- Provide technical advice on contractual and legal aspects of construction
- Act as Project Manager under the NEC contract
- Proactively advise senior leadership of emerging project issues, particularly those affecting professional indemnity (PI) risk
- Identify new business development opportunities and contribute to strategic growth
- Demonstrates a positive mindset and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
- Is capable of driving innovation and leading change
- Challenges the status quo constructively
- Acts as a stabilising presence within the cost management team
- Invests in mentoring and developing others
- Is willing and able to travel across the UK
- Can take on Head of Commercial responsibilities with key clients where required
- Extensive cost management experience following MRICS qualification
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts
- Strong understanding of construction procurement and tendering strategies
- Demonstrated experience with post-contract cost management duties
- Ability to act as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent
- Thorough understanding of legal frameworks impacting construction contracts
- Excellent leadership, team motivation, and performance management skills
- Clear, effective communication (oral and written)
- Analytical, methodical approach to problem-solving
- Strong financial, commercial, and negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience in preparing high-quality bid submissions
- Ability to negotiate fees to support service delivery and profitability
- MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
- Degree or Master's (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
