We are seeking a skilled Mould Tool Builder/Tool Handler to join a busy production team specialising in the design and manufacture of high-quality plastic injection mould tools. This role involves tool building, modification, repair, and the use of both CNC and manual machinery to support precision engineering projects.Key Responsibilities of the Tool Builder
  • Manufacture, repair, and modify injection mould tools, jigs, and guides
  • Operate CNC milling, CNC turning, EDM machines, surface grinders, and manual machinery
  • Programme using Autodesk PowerMill, Rhino 3D, SolidWorks or Fusion 360 to produce accurate NC toolpaths
  • Carry out mould assembly, fitting, polishing, lifting, and tool building
  • Set and operate CNC machines to produce cavities, inserts, electrodes, and bolster plates
  • Conduct quality checks using CMM machines with Renishaw probe to ensure parts meet specification
  • Create accurate 3D models for machining mould plates and electrodes
Requirements of the Tool Builder
  • Background in injection moulding and toolmaking
  • Hands-on experience with tool handling and toolroom machinery
  • Strong understanding of CNC and manual machining practices
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (PowerMill, Rhino 3D, SolidWorks or Fusion 360)
  • Keen interest in the mechanics and precision of tools
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances with excellent attention to detail
