This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children with behavioural needs, and who are confident in helping pupils manage their emotions and re-engage with their education.As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with the teaching staff and the SEN/behaviour teams to promote a positive learning environment and reduce instances of disruption. Your support will help students build emotional regulation skills and improve their overall school experience.About the School: This is a welcoming and well-resourced specialist setting for secondary-aged pupils who follow a primary-style curriculum. The school supports students with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, typically around 12 to 13 pupils, allowing for more tailored and supportive teaching.
It’s a bit like teaching primary children in secondary-sized bodies—full of energy, personality and potential.Responsibilities as a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 or small group behaviour interventions.
- Support pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties both in and out of class.
- Help develop and implement behaviour support plans.
- Assist in de-escalating situations and promoting conflict resolution.
- Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to monitor progress and strategies.
- Experience working with children or young people with behavioural challenges.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic attitude.
- Ability to set boundaries and use positive behaviour management techniques.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
