The VacancySalary: NJC Grade D: £26,824 - £28,598 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)Working Pattern: This is a fixed term position working 18 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. The working pattern for this role would be: 14:30 - 18:06 Monday to Friday.Are you practical, reliable, and take pride in keeping environments safe, clean, and welcoming? We are seeking a dedicated Site Caretaker to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and security of our school site. This is a vital role in ensuring our school is a safe, well-maintained, and positive place for pupils, staff, and the wider community.What you'll do:
  • Oversee the security of the premises, including opening, locking, and alarm callouts.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the school.
  • Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and groundskeeping duties.
  • Monitor and manage heating, lighting, and utilities for efficiency.
  • Keep accurate records of compliance checks (fire safety, legionella, asbestos, etc.).
  • Line manage and support the cleaning team, ensuring standards are consistently high.
  • Supervise contractors and ensure safe working practices are followed.
  • Support school lettings, events, and site improvements.
What we're looking for:
  • A proactive, hands-on individual with good problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of site management, maintenance, or a similar role (desirable but not essential).
  • Basic DIY skills and a willingness to learn.
  • An understanding of health and safety regulations (training will be provided).
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to use online systems for record-keeping, compliance, and communication.
  • Flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend events.
