Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding SEN college near Holton Heath (Poole), Dorset. We are currently seeking a number of Learning Support Assistants to join this college on a full-time basis.Experience is preferred but not necessary.The college is specialised in educating pupils with various SEN needs, such as Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities and other associated needs such as ASC.The college is set in beautiful grounds on the edge of the harbour and comprises of 350 acres of land. They offer a wide range of activities for their students from gardening, forestry therapy, arts, bird watching, equine therapy and walking. They have wheelchair-accessible routes and outdoor exercise equipment, viewpoints, a reed bed board walk and a bird hide overlooking the wetland habitat. It is a truly unique site.The students will have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and will have an individualised curriculum based on their specific needs.The school support young people to develop their emotional well-being and social skills. As a Learning Support Assistant you will support the school to develop students to cope better with the things they find challenging whether this is during their school day or at home.Applicants will be working in a classroom and off-site supporting teachers, teaching assistants and fellow support workers.They are looking for individuals that are passionate about developing a career and will be willing to put you through training, including teaching training for dedicated members of the team.The successful Learning Support Assistant will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional well-being and developing social skills. Previous experience of looking after children would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important.Your main duties and responsibilities will include:Plan and support a child with SEN needs and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring mannerBe reliable and punctual when working individually in the community or when part of a team and supporting colleagues to do their jobsActively plan and join in with all learning that is integral to each pupils journeyBe prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of peopleKeep records and write reports when requiredAlways ensure the highest level of safety and safeguardingExperience is preferred but not necessary. If you have transferable skills then this could be the job for you.
