About the RoleThis exciting and critical role will lead the development of data analysis and insight for climate change policies, strategies and targets and so significantly contributing to the Council and city's ambitions to become carbon neutral and deliver Best Value for its citizens.You will support the delivery of the Council's top priorities of achieving a Carbon Neutral Nottingham, assisting with technical guidance on carbon management through data insight and analysis.You will be advising and support senior Council managers, councillors and external organisations upon climate change and other related sustainability initiatives and policies, and support the integration of sustainable principles and practices within Council services and through partnership-focused initiatives.You will also be leading on the delivery of income generating activities for the team principally through the provision of carbon emissions related analytical and management work for other local authorities and public agencies.About YouThe ideal candidate will:
  • Be qualified at degree level or equivalent in economics, statistical or mathematical studies OR qualified at degree level or equivalent in an environmental related discipline with strong evidence of data management and analytical skills
  • Have worked in local government or the public sector, ideally in a climate change/sustainability related service for at least 2 years
  • Have advanced and demonstrable skills in data analysis, use of Excel and statistical management
  • Have excellent knowledge of and data analytical skills connected to climate change/carbon emission data at both national and local level
  • Be able to work effectively in a team and as an individual, with strong self-management and motivation to develop and adapt
