The role is essential for supporting undergraduate teaching, manufacturing specialised components, and maintaining the seamless operation of the faculty's engineering workshops.You will play a pivotal role in the hands-on education of undergraduate students, providing technical support for practical sessions, guiding students in applications, and ensuring the safe operation of workshop equipment. Additionally, the technician is responsible for manufacturing custom components required for research and teaching projects, as well as maintaining and repairing engineering equipment.About youWe welcome applications through two pathways:Experienced Technician Route: Candidates with an Advanced City & Guilds or BTEC Higher National Certificate/Diploma in an Engineering subject who have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship. Experience in the full range of conventional and CNC machine tools, together with an understanding of Health and Safety legislation in a workshop setting, is essential.Degree Apprenticeship Route: We are also pleased to offer this role as part of a Degree Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. This pathway provides an excellent opportunity to “earn while you learn,” gaining hands-on technical experience in the workshop while studying towards a BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
