Location: Southampton
Basic Salary: £52,000
Shift: Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 15:30Benefits:

We’re hiring a skilled HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, or Heavy Vehicle Fitter to join a busy and well-equipped commercial vehicle workshop in Southampton. The site is part of a long-established dealer network representing a major European truck brand, offering excellent technical support, structured training, and clear progression paths for career-focused technicians.You’ll be working in a high-performing team environment, using modern diagnostics and tooling to maintain and repair a wide range of heavy goods vehicles to manufacturer and DVSA standards.Key Responsibilities of an HGV Mechanic
  • Service, maintain, and repair HGVs to a high technical standard
  • Carry out fault diagnostics using specialist equipment
  • Work collaboratively to ensure workshop targets and turnaround times are met
  • Keep clear and accurate records of completed work
  • Follow safety protocols and participate in all training and development programmes
Skills and Qualifications for an HGV MechanicEssential
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
  • HGV Class 1 licence
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
  • Proactive attitude with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement
