Salary: £38,000 – £41,000 pro rataStart date: ASAPWe are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable & Reconciliation Officer to join a busy finance team on a 6-month fixed term contract. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in accounts receivable within higher education or a large or complex organisation, who can work accurately at pace and manage a varied workload.The Role
You will be responsible for the receipting and reconciliation of accounts, processing all incoming payments, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring accurate allocation within agreed timescales. This will involve working with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders, maintaining robust internal controls, and producing regular reports.Key duties will include:
- Processing and reconciling sales receipts across multiple payment channels
- Reviewing bank statements, identifying payments, and allocating them correctly
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Setting up new customer accounts, ensuring due diligence checks are completed
- Processing ad-hoc invoices, credit notes, and adjustments
- Managing cheque and card payments, including refunds when required
- Monitoring unapplied receipts and working with payees/banks to resolve them
- Supporting telephone and in-person payment services when needed
- Assisting with peak periods, including student arrivals
- Strong experience in accounts receivable and reconciliation ideally in a higher education institution or large complex organisation
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence using finance systems
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- A collaborative approach and excellent communication skills
