Electro-Mechanical Design EngineerJob Type: Permanent | Full-time Competitive salary + excellent benefits (pension, private healthcare)Are you an experienced Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new challenge?An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on engineer with expertise in mechanical and electrical design to join a dynamic team specialising in low and medium voltage switchgear. This role offers the chance to design, develop, and optimize cutting-edge electromechanical systems, supporting new product development and technical improvements.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop low and medium voltage switchgear from feasibility to production.Utilize 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for detailed design and assembly.Conduct design for manufacture analysis, including DFMEA and functional reviews.Provide technical support, including customer site visits for investigations and maintenance.Assist in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.Ensure compliance with engineering standards, risk management, and IEC/BS EN regulations.Skills & Experience Required:Essential:Strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering (HNC or equivalent).3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred).Understanding of risk management, material properties, and structured engineering processes.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.Desirable:Knowledge of switchgear, railway overhead line equipment, or mechanical interlock systems.Experience with static/dynamic simulation tools, thermoplastic moulding, or dielectric performance.Familiarity with IEC 62271-1, BS EN 50123-1 standards.Why Apply?Hybrid working options after an initial settling-in periodStrong benefits package including pension & private healthcareOpportunity to expand expertise across both mechanical & electrical disciplinesA collaborative environment with scope for career growthIf you’re looking for stability, technical variety, and a forward-thinking team, this could be the perfect fit.
