We are looking to appoint a new member of the team who is interesting in being part of an extraordinary new pilot bringing cancer care directly to children and families across the North West of England & Wales region. We're looking for compassionate, reliable driver(s) to help launch our innovative mobile unit--making a real difference with every journey What we need from you:
  • A full clean driving license (HGV)
  • Confidence driving larger vehicles (HGV)
  • A calm, caring approach

For more information on the Care Closer to Home (CC2H) project see: https://www.nwchildrenscancerodn.nhs.uk/care-closer-to-home/Main duties of the jobPrepare the unit for service and close the unit down each dayUndertake vehicle maintenance and safety checksMaintain the vehicle in a clean, safe and presentable conditionGreet patients and complete administration dutiesCarry out support work as directed by the CC2H nurses and maintain recordsCarry out daily risk assessments before parking and setting up the unitUse vehicle and equipment safely and effectively and report any defects immediatelyCarry out all tasks in compliance with department policies and proceduresCarry out all duties in a safe manner, using only the equipment providedCommunicate with patients and work colleaguesAssist in emergency situation under the direction of the CC2H nursesAssist in supporting new staff during inductionEnsure that all Infection Control procedures and related policies are strictly observed at all timesEnsure the safeguarding of keys provided whilst on duty and to ensure that vehicles/areas/roomsare locked before coming off dutyRespect at all times the patients wellbeing and privacy and their legal right to confidentialityCarry out all duties in line with the requirements of the operational procedures inorder to provide a quality service and satisfy the customer's requirementsUndertake any other associated duties to supportdelivery of the service as requiredUse the Mobile Unit support car as directed by the CC2H nursesTransport drugs and blood as required as per Alder Hey and MFT guidelines and MCCU policyAbout usMFT is one of the largest NHS Trust In England with a turnover of over £3bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
