
Deputy Designated Professional for Safeguarding - All Age

- First Degree in relevant subject are or equivalent experience.
- Registered professional (in line with Intercollegiate Guidance for Adults).
- Extensive knowledge of relevant national policies and implications for practice relating to safeguarding children and adults.
- Working towards to Postgraduate Degree in relevant subject or equivalent.
- Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
- Knowledge and experience in multi agency assessment processes and multi-agency working in relation to safeguarding.
- Experience in line managing staff and other leadership roles.
- Detailed understanding of safeguarding adult and children legislation, policy and interagency policy and practice.
- Have experience in preparing and presenting written briefings at senior management level which may be contentious or highly sensitive in nature.
- NMC Registered Nurse/Public Health Nurse /Health Visitor/Midwife.
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
- Experience in contributing to developing and delivering safeguarding training.
- Experience of formulating policies and procedures.
- Experience of participating in thematic reviews, inspections, statutory safeguarding reviews, serious incident investigations.
- Ability to lead and implement changes to practice by thinking strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to write clear, concise reports, guidance.
- Ability to communicate across a wide range of services, both statutory and voluntary.
- Ability to work flexibly to short deadlines and to prioritise.
- Ability to challenge and manage conflict and lead practitioners through change process.
- Ability to influence at all levels across the health economy.
