We are committed to offering high-quality building materials with exceptional customer service.Due to our continued growth and success, we are looking for a committed and reliable HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join our busy team in East Sussex.Role OverviewThis is a dual-role position combining responsibilities as a Class 2 HGV Driver and a Yard Operative. You will be responsible for the safe delivery of materials to trade and domestic customers, and for supporting daily operations in the yard including stock management, loading/unloading, and customer service.Key ResponsibilitiesAs HGV DriverSafely operate HGV (Class 2) vehicles for customer deliveries and collectionsDeliver goods promptly and accurately to both trade and domestic customersComplete daily vehicle safety checks and ensure roadworthinessOperate HIAB/crane equipment (if applicable) following safety protocolsMaintain accurate delivery records and report any discrepanciesProvide outstanding customer service and represent the company professionally on every deliveryAs Yard OperativeLoad and unload stock using forklifts or manual handling as requiredCheck incoming deliveries for quality and accuracyOrganise and store materials in line with company proceduresPick and prepare customer orders for collection or deliveryMaintain a clean, safe, and well-organised yard environmentAssist walk-in customers in a friendly and helpful mannerFollow all site Health & Safety regulations and report hazards as necessaryRequirementsValid Class 2 HGV Licence (essential)HIAB Licence (preferred – training can be provided)Forklift Licence (advantageous)Previous experience in a builder’s merchant or similar environment is desirableStrong customer service skills and professional attitudeGood communication and time-management abilitiesStrong awareness of Health & Safety practicesWhat We OfferCompetitive salary with bonus potentialPension schemeTraining and development opportunitiesCareer progressionStaff discounts and employee perks programmeEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Supportive and friendly team environmentHow to ApplyIf you’re ready to bring your skills and energy to a growing, dynamic team, we’d love to hear from you. please contact Vikash Patel at Oval Deene Recruitment at 01933449975 or 07774372056, send your CV to Vikash@ovaldeene.co.uk
