- Working closely with your team and team leader to create a welcoming, inclusive space that children love coming to.
- Supporting children and young people—individually or in small groups—to take part in fun, age-appropriate activities that match their interests and abilities.
- Encouraging independence and confidence by empowering young people to choose and engage in activities they enjoy.
- Meeting the individual needs of each child—social, emotional, physical, or communication-based—with sensitivity and respect for their background and identity.
- Using a variety of communication techniques to ensure every child and young person is heard and understood.
- Providing personal and physical care in a respectful and professional way.
- Keeping open communication with your team and reporting any changes or concerns about the children you support.
- Helping to record session outcomes and contribute to care planning.
- Following risk assessments and health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Staying up to date with care plans and support needs.
- Someone who works in partnership with families and carers.
