As Energy & Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategy, integrating sustainable practices, and leading projects that deliver tangible impact.You will join a supportive team within our Central Engineering Department at Howden, where your expertise will directly influence both day-to-day operations and our Net Zero journey.What You’ll Be Doing:
- Energy Performance Monitoring & Optimisation: Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of energy consumption across all sites. Develop energy dashboards and performance models to identify inefficiencies and track improvements.
- Carbon & ESG Reporting: Oversee carbon footprint assessments and group-wide reporting frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and external sustainability standards.
- Energy Reduction Strategies: Design and implement cost-saving and carbon-reduction projects across manufacturing, warehousing, and office environments. Maintain an energy-saving opportunities register and provide detailed technical documentation for implementation.
- Innovation & Technology: Research and deploy emerging energy technologies, such as renewable integration, battery storage, and advanced energy management systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Training: Collaborate with operational teams, facilities managers, and contractors to embed best practices. Deliver training and build a culture of energy awareness.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure alignment with local, national, and international standards, while mitigating risks associated with energy usage and sustainability initiatives.
- Project Leadership: Manage multi-site projects, from audits and feasibility studies through to delivery, ensuring performance targets and ROI are achieved.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven success in energy management and optimisation within industrial, manufacturing, or large corporate environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in energy audits, carbon reporting, renewable integration, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Solid project and risk management experience, with a track record of delivering measurable cost savings and carbon reductions.
- Certification or accreditation in an energy management field is highly desirable.
- Experience with renewable energy technologies.
