Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal Practice We are seeking a motivated and caring Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive small animal team. This full-time role offers an excellent balance between consulting, surgery, and professional development, all within a practice committed to high clinical standards and a positive working environment. About the roleFull-time, 4-day week, 8:30am-6:00pmOn-call: 1 Saturday morning in 5Out-of-hours: 1 night per week until 10pm, 1 weekend in 5 (7am-10pm) with additional remunerationAnnual leave: 5 weeks plus Bank HolidaysModern, well-equipped facilities including laparoscopy, digital dental radiography, and full in-house labSupportive team with certificate holders in multiple disciplines and a strong focus on collaborative case managementKey responsibilities As a Veterinary Surgeon in the UK, you will typically:Conduct consultations and physical examinations to diagnose illness, injury, or other health issuesProvide medical and surgical treatment, including prescribing medications in accordance with the Veterinary Medicines RegulationsPerform a range of surgical procedures, from routine neutering to more advanced soft tissue workInterpret diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, X-rays, and ultrasoundOffer preventive healthcare advice on vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition, and lifestyleMaintain accurate clinical records in line with RCVS guidanceWork closely with veterinary nurses and other colleagues to deliver high-quality patient careCommunicate effectively and empathetically with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and outcomesEngage in CPD to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skillsWhat we offerSalary up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)Generous out-of-hours bonus paymentsFully funded CPD, with support for certificate-level qualificationsFive weeks' annual leave plus Bank HolidaysStaff pet care discountsSupportive and collaborative working cultureAbout youRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon (or eligible for registration)Confident with a varied small animal caseloadSkilled in both consulting and surgery, with an interest in areas such as laparoscopy, dentistry, or internal medicine welcomedStrong communication skills and a team-focused approachCommitted to ongoing professional developmentIf you are looking for a role that offers variety, professional support, and a healthy work-life balance in a welcoming environment, we would be pleased to hear from you.Health Recruit Network are a trusted supplier of NHS and Private healthcare services.
