Posted on behalf ofMcMurtryA leading automotive manufacturing company that specializes in producing high performance vehicles is currently hiring a Prototype Build Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and modifying prototype vehicles and systems, working closely with design, engineering and test teams to create vehicles that push the boundaries of performance and technology.The Prototype Build Technician will:
  • Work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, and composite systems.
  • Support the integration of experimental components including drivetrains, suspension systems, wiring harnesses, and fan systems.
  • Collaborate with design and test engineers to provide feedback and suggest improvements.
  • Interpret and follow engineering drawings, CAD models, and build documentation.
  • Assemble and modify prototype electric vehicles and sub-systems according to engineering specifications.
The Prototype Build Technician will have:
  • Strong mechanical and electrical assembly skills; experience with EV systems is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in prototype or motorsport vehicle build (e.g. Formula Student, motorsport, R&D workshop).
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
  • Flexible mindset with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD-based documentation.
