CAD Draftsman

- You'll be responsible for the production of fabrication drawings when needed to the relevant standards and procedures
- Producing accurate and detailed drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software for various fabrication / engineering projects, you'll be ensuring that all drawings and work instructions are kept up to date with all needed
- You'll work closely with engineers and project managers to understand design specifications and project requirements and create 2D and 3D models of structures, components, and systems
- Sometimes you'll produce steel material / plate / section quantity estimates in MS word (Material Take Off, MTO) for estimating new projects, to aid the estimating department
- You'll use the CNC nesting program to produce production cutting nests of project parts, by plate thickness
- For stock control and audit purposes, you'll record all steel plate details using Excel spreadsheets and a CAD format will be required too
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Marine Architecture, or similar
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and a solid understanding of engineering and design principles
- Great communication skills for collaboration with diverse project teams
- Problem-solving abilities that will enable you to address design challenges
