Salary: £103.00 per day (including holiday pay)
Hours:
  • Monday to Wednesday: 8:20am - 2:50pm
  • Thursday & Friday: 8:20am - 3:40pm
  • Total: 30 hours per week
Job Description:A secondary school in the Liverpool L15 area is seeking a compassionate and reliable Male Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for a Year 7 student with Muscular Dystrophy, who uses a wheelchair. This is a rewarding role that will allow the successful candidate to make a real difference to a young person's school experience.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual support for a Year 7 student with physical mobility needs throughout the school day.
  • Assist with safe movement around the school site, including between classrooms and other key areas.
  • Offer support with personal care tasks when necessary, while respecting the student's independence and dignity.
  • Encourage independence and confidence, offering practical support only where needed.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure full access to the curriculum.
  • Promote inclusion and provide emotional and social support as required.
About the Student:
  • Academically able and eager to learn.
  • Independent in many areas, but requires some assistance with mobility and occasional personal care.
  • Responds well to a respectful, calm, and encouraging approach.
Person Specification:
  • Essential:
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or care setting.
  • Ability to assist with physical support, including pushing a wheelchair and navigating school facilities.
  • Comfortable providing personal care with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependable, empathetic, and supportive in approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge or experience of working with physical disabilities, especially Muscular Dystrophy.
  • Previous experience in a school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in care or support work.
