Family Support Worker - Letterbox Service Area: Adoption Counts Location: Stockport We are currently recruiting for a Family Support Worker - Letterbox to join Adoption Counts, supporting children, birth families and adoptive families across the region. This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping children maintain their identity and sense of belonging through secure and sensitive communication between adoptive families and birth relatives. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate Letterbox contact between adoptive families and birth families, ensuring exchanges are secure, appropriate, and child-focused. Provide adoption support by delivering tailored packages of care, supporting children with identity, belonging, and security needs. Work directly with adoptive families and birth families, offering guidance and support around adoption and its impact. Collaborate with other agencies to ensure children and families receive the right support. Contribute to service development, attend team meetings, and take part in training and regional adoption events. Maintain clear, timely, and accurate records in line with policy requirements. About You: We are looking for someone who can build trusting relationships with children and families and who is committed to child-focused, inclusive practice. The ideal candidate will: Hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in childcare . Have experience of working with children who have experienced trauma or neglect and their families/carers. Be confident working with children and young people with challenging behaviours . Have knowledge of adoption, attachment, safeguarding, and child development . Be able to work effectively with colleagues, partner agencies, and families. Have strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills . Be a car driver (alternative arrangements will be considered for disabled applicants). Why Join Us?
