We are seeking a motivated and reliable Trainee Materials Testing Field Technician to join our team. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone looking to begin a career in construction materials testing. You will be trained to carry out site tests on a variety of construction materials, including concrete, soils, aggregates, and asphalt.Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the sampling and testing of materials on construction sites in accordance with UK and industry standards (e.g., BS EN, BS 1377, BS 812).
Perform on-site tests such as slump tests, cube sampling, and in-situ density testing.
Deliver samples to the laboratory and assist with laboratory-based testing.
Maintain accurate records, complete test reports, and ensure timely communication of results.
Ensure all work is conducted in line with health & safety procedures and quality standards.
Operate and maintain testing equipment and company vehicles (once trained and qualified).
Work flexibly, including early starts, occasional weekends, and travel to various sites.
Requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science.
Full UK driving licence.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one upon appointment).
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience in construction, materials testing, or a related field.
Knowledge of UKAS standards and testing procedures.
