Wakefield Council is looking to recruit a hardworking and dedicated Lifeguard to join our dynamic leisure team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment where safety, cleanliness, and service excellence are top priorities.As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in ensuring our swimming pools are clean, safe, and welcoming for all users. You'll be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene while delivering excellent customer care in line with the Council's values and policies.What We're Looking For

Entry RequirementsThis is an unqualified role, open to anyone to apply. However, a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is essential to start in post.Wakefield Council will fund your NPLQ course, but attendance will be expected as voluntary hours.As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a swim test prior to your interview.The test includes:Swim Test Requirements
  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without using a ladder or steps (where pool design permits)
This assessment will take place on the day of the interview, prior to the NPLQ course.To Qualify for the NPLQ Course, You Must:
  • Be 18 years or olderat the time of the final NPLQ assessment
  • Attend all daysof the course, taking place from Monday 27th October to 31st October
