Southend on Sea | £15 per hour | Mon to Thursday 8:30am-5pm | 30 hours per weekImmediate start!Purpose of the RoleAs as a Education Support Coach, you will collaborate closely with teaching staff to provide academic and social-emotional support to individual learners or small groups with additional needs, whether they are in mainstream or specialized education programs.You will play a key role in promoting independence and maintaining a strong focus on learner voice, ensuring that each student feels heard and supported. Working as part of a large team, and with the guidance of a Learning Mentor, you will deliver targeted support based on individual support plans. You will also assist with student management within the college environment and contribute to their successful course completion.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport academic staff in ensuring that assigned student groups complete assessments, are regularly monitored and reviewed, and receive appropriate support to improve attendance, retention, success, and overall learning outcomes.Follow the direction of your designated Learning Mentor and maintain daily communication with teaching staff responsible for the relevant coursesAssist in effectively monitoring students’ attendance and punctuality, and support interventions where neededWork with individual students in collaboration with academic staff to help them meet their learning targets and outcomes, contribute to the development of individual support plansAccompany students on curriculum-related educational activities, including day trips and residential visits, when appropriateRefer students to suitable educational support services to address their individual needs, challenges, or concernsAct as an advocate for students, while encouraging and developing their ability to advocate for themselvesPromote and support student independence in all aspects of their learning and college lifeAssist in adapting and modifying teaching materials to meet individual student needsProvide scribing or reading assistance for students, where appropriateSupport students in planning for and progressing beyond the end of their current programmeCollaborate with academic staff to ensure that appropriate support strategies are in place to help students overcome barriers to learningWork jointly with academic staff and your Learning Mentor to regularly review and update support and coaching strategies for individual studentsEngage with students to address attendance issues, supporting academic staff and departmental managers in identifying and responding to underlying causes of low attendance and retentionWhat you’ll need
