General:We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Operations Analyst within Accounting Operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with great analytical skills, attention to detail and who likes to drive process improvements. This role will report to the Finance Operations Manager and be responsible in assisting with a wide range of reporting, analysis and ad hoc projects.We are looking for an individual with a background in financial and management accounting with a keen interest in data analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to supporting the business, the ability to understand and review internal controls and identify and manage operational process risks. External: 3rd party service providers and Auditors.Job Summary:This role will support Accounting Operations and the Finance Operations Manager in matters such as technical accounting, financial controls, process improvements, data analysis & reporting, change & transformation etc. The successful candidate will be required to liaise with other Finance teams and teams outside of Finance such as Claims, IT, Facilities, Internal Audit, Compliance & Risk Management etc.Key responsibilities:Accounting and reporting:
  • Review and analyse lease agreements for IFRS16 compliance
  • Calculate, prepare and post journals for relevant lease accounting adjustments
  • Quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for lease-related accounts
  • Maintain and update Workday lease module for new, modified, or terminated leases
  • Support the analytical review and variance analysis relating to actuals vs budgets
  • Assist in the development of appropriate KPIs and accurate reporting of performance. Engage with key stakeholders regarding queries and actions
  • Timely preparation of the monthly Accounting Operations dashboard and flash report
  • Analysis and reporting of Travel and Entertainment spend for Financial Operations
  • Assist in the implementation and adherence of accounting policies, and procedures that support efficiencies
  • Preparation of other ad hoc financial reports as required
Financial Controls:
  • Support the quality and timeliness of internal control requirements associated with general ledger reporting
  • Assist in the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
  • Maintain the loss & risk incident tracker for Accounting Operations. Liaise with Financial Control as an when required.
  • Continuous maintenance and review of process documentation for all assigned areas and ensure consistency across all documented processes
  • Promote continuous improvement culture and maintain and improve standardisation of tasks and processes
Cross Training:
  • Assist the Finance Operations Manager as necessary on activities across all areas within Accounting Operations
  • Provide absence cover such that the Accounting Operations Team can maintain satisfactory levels of service
  • To support Accounting Operations and the Finance department in ad hoc projects when required

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include, among others, European Strategy Team, US Management team or membership of any Beazley committees.

Personal Specification:Education and Qualifications
  • General accounting knowledge
  • Educated to degree level
  • Actively Studying towards a Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in a management/ financial accounting role
  • Experience working within the Financial Services Industry (desired but not mandatory)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent numeric and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of Finance systems, processes, and accounting principles
  • Intermediate/Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerBI and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with Workday ERP system (desired)
  • Experience in the provision of Management Information
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and use problem solving skills to proactively resolve issues
  • Effective prioritisation and organisational skills.
