Job Description:Wood is recruiting for a Commercial Manager to focus on Pre-contract award support to our Consulting business across our Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.The position will predominately support our Digital Consulting Group. Ideally the successful candidate will be based in our Aberdeen office on a hybrid model. However, due to the nature of the role we recognise that it can be performed remotely and so are open to applications throughout the UK with occasional travel expected.Realise returns, manage risk, maximise opportunities; enable the business to design the future!The RoleReporting into the EMEA Commercial Manager the Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of pre-contract support to the Digital Consulting business and across consulting where required.You will drive the bid team, maximising commercial performance whilst managing business / project risk. In this role you will have the opportunity to commercialise the business offerings in order to support the growth strategy of Consulting and the wider Wood.Working across multi discipline / functional teams you will support in improving and developing others commercial acumen to ensure overall improvement of the commercial application across the group.Pivotal to this role is ensuring compliance and managing tender governance across the consulting business, whilst ensuring that the commercial strategy is implemented and aligned to the overall Consulting strategy.This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast paced ever changing environment where each day offers a new chance to solve commercial problems and drive the business forward.This is an ideal role for a driven Commercial professional, with excellent stakeholder management skills and a clear understanding of risk mitigation, tender governance and maximisation of commercial performance.Our Clients and ProjectsIt's a future for all of us. Responsibilities:Leads and directs the management of the following for Digital Consulting in EMEA:
  • Pre award activities including support to the proposals team in terms of performing commercial review of tender documents, reviewing commercial proposals prior to submission for internal approval, preparing pricing and commercial qualifications
  • All activities within the Tender governance processes
  • Compliance with Woods commercial policies, processes and procedures (tender governance, financial instruments, contracting policy, etc.)
  • Risk management process including risk identification, and mitigation planning
  • Contractual negotiation strategies for client contracts, JV's and teaming agreements in conjunction with the bid team and key stakeholders
  • Negotiation of Terms and Conditions with clients and suppliers
  • Developing subcontracting commercial strategy in conjunction with Project Management, supply chain and other functions, as required
  • Align project / Consulting specific commercial requirements with Wood commercial processes and procedures and communicate to relevant personnel
  • Coordination of contract reviews and the development of qualifications / redlines in conjunction with the Contracts function to ensure the balance of risk is appropriate for the associated services and remuneration model

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law or Business Studies, along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a Commercial role with a focus on Pre- contract award stages
  • Previous experience in a management / leadership role is preferred
  • Proven experience in contract administration including change management
  • Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures
  • Experience in contract negotiations
  • Experience in claims & dispute resolution (pre and post litigation experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work as part of a cross functional multi-discipline teams and manage others that are not direct reports
  • Ability to prioritise key tasks and solve problems for the team
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
