Our team has a strong track record of successfully delivering power conversion projects and integrating innovative technologies into the UK rail network. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of dedicated specialists who are shaping the future of railway electrification in the UK and global projects.You will report into the Principal Design Engineer and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of secondary systems, control & protection designs for Power Conversion projects. You will use your design and construction experience to guide the optimal development of secondary design to meet environmental, safety, cost and programme objectives.You'll make a difference by
  • Preparing hardware designs and circuit diagrams for control & protection panels for high voltage AC Substations and Converter Stations utilising Power Electronics
  • Creating project specific technical specifications, documentation, manuals and detailed design/configuration of project specific secondary systems, control & protection designs
  • Providing technical clarifications with customers, EPCs and consultants on the selection of appropriate secondary systems, control and protection equipment according to customer requirements
  • Supporting PreFAT/FAT and commissioning activities
  • Taking responsibility for quality, time and costs of own results whilst demonstrating accountability
  • Planning and executing work packages for sub-suppliers including supervision in the fields of secondary systems and control & protection designs, inclusive of occasional business trips
Your success will be grounded by
  • BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Member of the IET or another recognised Professional Body
  • Proven experience in design & implementation of secondary systems, control & protection in HV substations (preferably utilising Power Electronics technologies in HVDC and/or FACTS projects)
  • Understanding of key interfaces between design, construction and commissioning
  • Proven experience with Secondary Systems automated design software such as ELCAD, Engineering Base, COMOS and CAD/BIM software including AutoCAD, MicroStation and ProjectWise
  • Knowledge of Project safety requirements, Health & Safety standards (including CDM regulations) applicable to the design of High Voltage substations
