- Delivering 1:1 support to a named pupil during lessons, helping them to access the curriculum at their level.
- Using a range of visual aids, structured routines, and supportive strategies to maintain engagement and support understanding.
- Supporting the pupil's emotional regulation, wellbeing, and social skills development.
- Encouraging independence and confidence through consistent praise, patience, and scaffolding techniques.
- Helping the pupil navigate transitions and unstructured times (e.g. break and lunch), providing reassurance and routine.
- Experienced in supporting children with special educational needs in a school or similar setting.
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and act as a positive role model.
- Patient, calm, and understanding, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexible and responsive to the needs of individual children.
- Knowledgeable of (or willing to learn about) autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other common SEND presentations.
- A valid, enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willing to apply for one via Academics).
- A long-term agency contract with consistent hours and the potential to transition into a permanent role.
- Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant who understands SEND placements.
