Start Date: September 2025About the Role - Level 3 Teaching AssistantWe are recruiting for an experienced Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant to join a thriving primary school in Islington. This full-time position offers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility in supporting teaching and learning, working across different year groups and taking a lead role in delivering targeted interventions.Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality support to pupils across Key Stage 1 and 2
- Lead small group interventions and targeted learning programmes
- Support classroom teachers with lesson planning and preparation
- Deliver pre-planned lessons under teacher guidance when required
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, maintaining detailed records
- Support pupils with varying needs, including those with SEN
- Mentor and guide lower-level teaching assistants
- Assist with educational visits and extra-curricular activities
- Contribute to staff meetings and professional development sessions
- Support with administrative tasks as required
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) - please note this must be a Diploma not a Certificate
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Teaching Assistant in primary education
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and assessment methods
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
- Proven ability to work independently and use initiative
- Experience delivering interventions and small group teaching
- Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or working towards
- Experience across multiple year groups (EYFS to Year 6)
- Knowledge of phonics programmes (e.g., Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
- Understanding of data tracking and assessment systems
- Experience with SEN support and EHCP processes
- Additional qualifications in Maths or English support
- First Aid qualification
- Experience mentoring junior staff
