- Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk
- Understanding different methods of winning and extracting raw material
- Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry, including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques
- Understanding Quarry Regulations 1999 enabling a Regulation 8.1(c) appointment
- All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations and producing operational reports
- Maintaining and implementing existing and new, Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the same
- Managing and overseeing the safe operation of the Quarry and Asphalt Plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all the site's equipment
- Ensuring that the plant meets operational and production requirements whilst maintaining the equipment to a high standard.
- Issuing of safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team. Reporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practices
- Managing proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrix
- Collating and report on monthly performance KPIs for your business unit for the Area Operations Manager and driving operational performance through KPIs
- Quarry Regulations 1999 - 8.1(c)
- Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies
- Strong IT skills including a high level of competence with SAP (preferred) and the Microsoft packages - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to multitask and manage change
- Full knowledge and experience of Risk Assessments and developing safe working procedures
- Experience of managing teams and staff development
- Proven ability to build successful relationships with internal / external stakeholders and customers
- Project management experience
- Effective Budgeting and cost control skills
- SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6
- IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous
