As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Forge Hydraulic Engineer. This role will involve being responsible for engineering design, modernisation, refurbishments and all hydraulic & pneumatic technology across the Forge department.Role ResponsibilitiesProvide technical hydraulic, pneumatic and supervisory support within the forge engineering team.Capturing change, improving hydraulic technology and ensuring that existing systems perform to their full potential.Assist with the planning and execution of shutdown and weekend works to ensure that plant and equipment is safe and ready to use.
  • Research and design new technology within the forge to help improve efficiencies and reliability around all aspects of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
  • Fault finding hydraulic or pneumatic issues.
  • Take an active role in the new forge facility installation and the transition from old to new with particular focus on the new Hydraulic systems being installed.
About YouThe following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.Apprentice Trained Engineer.CAD / Solid Works experience is desirable, but training will be provided.Excellent hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge.Hydraulic and pneumatic fault-finding skills.Ability to read hydraulic / pneumatic schematics.Mechanical engineering knowledge.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.Lead, organise and review the work of all engineers.Days/Hours of Work40 hours per weekReasons to work at Sheffield Forgemasters
