Work ExperienceJob PurposeTo provide electronic and firmware engineering expertise to engineering teams & project teams delivering a locomotive re-power project for Hong Kong.Qualifications & ExperienceEngineering degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineeringMinimum of 5 years’ experience working in design, development and testing of electronic control equipment hardware in railway industryExperience in use of Electrical & Electronic CAD systems e.g. AutoCAD and AltiumProficiency in programming in VHDL and developing FPGA based systemsExperience in digital and analogue electronics hardware design and PCB manufactureExperience and knowledge in the design for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)Essential AttributesPositive attitude, self-motivated and understands own strengthsAble to work with limited supervision, prioritise work and make effective decisionsGood communication skills; must be able to communicate and present technical issues effectively and conciselyGood ability and knowledge in using commonly used office applications and tools, including Microsoft® Office™Role may require working at different locations (potentially abroad) to support the delivery of projects and the performance and reliability of productsPrinciple Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesProficiency in FPGA firmware development in VHDL, including programming, debugging, and testingCapability to make amendments to FPGA software in response to design changes or issuesUnderstanding of FPGA architecture and the ability to optimize software performanceExperience in integrating FPGA software with other system componentsExpertise in PCB design and development for rail industry, including schematic capture, layout, and manufacturingAbility to implement changes to existing PCB designs and troubleshoot issues using AltiumFamiliarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to electronics in RailProduce & check technical documentation including specifications, electronic design information, test plans & specifications, technical reportsProduce evidence to support conformance verification to standards, including BS EN50155.Provide risk evaluation, assessment and mitigation evidence for electronic system safety hazardsSupport investigations into failures of electronic systems & components, determine root cause and present findingsSupport control electronic equipment validation – type, routine and compliance testing, installation and commissioning first in class at customer site. Specify test equipment and specifications to undertake measurements or monitoring of electrical & electronic systems and equipment whilst in operatio.Perform any other duties within capabilities, training or experience
