Randstad are recruiting for a Project Manufacturing Engineer for a client based in Clevedon. They are a global company who, at this site, specialise in manufacturing special purpose machinery.Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for the timely completion of all manufacturing engineering deliverables for either new product implementation (NPI) projects or distributed manufacturing projects.Main Responsibilities
  • Complete risk assessments with key stakeholders to keep a safe and effective work environment
  • Work with the PME lead to create and improve ME systems and process documentation. Knowledge of Business Management Systems to facilitate day to day work
  • Confident with product manufacturing processes and working with manufacturing cells, including Sub-assembly, Final Assembly, Final Testing, Despatch
  • Experienced in creating production work instructions, DFM, Make/buy, Capex, PFMEA. This is to aid in an effective and efficient build process
  • Project Management of improvement projects / activity. Own, plan, drive, and complete ME deliverables in readiness for NPI stage gate reviews, continuous improvement, or work transfer projects. Manage Risk, Schedule/time, and resourcing
  • Continuous Improvement and implementation of major projects, knowledge of CI methodologies and operating systems, 5S, std work, VSM, kaizen, change management, TPM, SPC and Gauge R&R
  • Use problem solving to perform root cause analysis and investigations (8D). Resolves issues as they arise from internal nonconformities, external FRACAS or HSE issues
Experience & Skills
  • Manufacturing Engineering degree or minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience in participating continuous improvement projects including principles such as TPM, SMED, 5S, 8D problem solving, Kaizen, VSM and change management
  • Experienced in creating and maintaining manufacturing process documentation
  • NPI, PCP gate methodology and MRL including PFMEA, make / buy, DFM, build notes
  • Experienced in leading NPI initial build activities and training
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a compliance, quality first and safety mindset
  • Confident with working on own initiative, directing resource
  • Design for manufacture experience
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
