Behavioural Support AssistantAre you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who face behavioural and emotional challenges? Academics, an established education recruitment agency, is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Support Assistant to join one of our valued SEN and alternative provision school partners in Walsall.As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you'll help pupils regulate their emotions, stay engaged in lessons, and develop positive coping strategies both in and out of the classroom.The ideal Behavioural Support Assistant will:
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or additional needs
  • Be calm, patient, and resilient when dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Use de-escalation strategies effectively and build trusting relationships
  • Be able to work collaboratively with staff and external professionals
  • Have a genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their full potential
Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering personalised 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Supporting students in managing behaviour and regulating emotions
  • Encouraging and modelling positive behaviour and routines
  • Assisting teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual needs
  • Helping with smooth transitions during the school day, including break times and classroom changes
