Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-timeAre you a patient and empathetic individual passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in the Askern (DN6) area. As an SEMH TA, this role provides the opportunity to support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them thrive in a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Implement and support individual behaviour and learning plans.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with classroom learning and promote pupil engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to support holistic pupil development.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet individual pupil requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, with explanations for any gaps.
