Felixstowe Road Medical Practice has an opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join our practice, we are happy to consider applications on a full or part-time basis.The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. We offer a range of staff development opportunities to our healthcare assistants.Main duties of the job
  • Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
  • Wound care, venepuncture, and chronic disease checks
  • Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Update patient health records.
  • Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
  • Act as a chaperone where required.
  • Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
  • New patient health checks.
About usWe are a friendly GP practice situated over the East side of Ipswich. Our aim is to provide high quality, patient centred care, adhering to a traditional model of general practice, whilst recognising the need to evolve and respond to the new challenges in health and social care.We have just over 10,200 patients supported by a team of 7 GPs, 4 practice nurses and 2 healthcare assistants along side various PCN staff that are working for the practice. We are a training practice and currently have 4 GP registrars training at the practice.Benefits include:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent;

  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
  • Experience of working within a GP practice would be preferred but not essential.
  • Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy preferred but not essential.
