About the RoleJames Gray Recruitment are working with a leading engineering consultancy to recruit a Civil & Structural Technical Director. This senior appointment offers the opportunity to join the management team, take ownership of major projects, and help shape the future direction of the department.You will oversee the delivery of high-quality engineering design, manage resources and finances, and ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest technical standards. Acting as a primary point of contact, you will build strong client relationships, represent the business at meetings, and play a key role in winning repeat and new work.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical delivery of civil and structural design projects through all stages.
  • Manage, mentor and develop engineers within the team.
  • Oversee project programming, QA, budgets, and invoicing.
  • Build and maintain client relationships to secure repeat business.
  • Support bids, fee proposals, and commercial discussions.
  • Represent the consultancy at client and design team meetings.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical reports.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered or near-chartered (ICE or IStructE).
  • Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and teams.
  • Excellent technical skills in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, MS Office etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and client-facing experience.
  • Right to work in the UK (UK driving licence advantageous).
