
Construction Area Supervisor - EPCM (Contract)

- Attend daily whiteboard meetings and shift handovers/permit release, coordinate and document as required, including no attendance.
- Attend daily SIMPOS meetings and implement findings/coordinate activities and labour density within the designated area.
- Maintain site hygiene and cleanliness by working with the site logistics contractor.
- Ensure materials are available to support the schedule by coordinating with contractors and the logistics supplier by undertaking a rolling two-week look-ahead.
- Ensure all works are coordinated.
- Maintain a daily diary of progress/any issues encountered.
- Ensure all plant within the work area is fit for purpose, daily inspections have been carried out and it is being utilised safely with banks persons etc.
- Monitor attainment to plan and participate in four four-week look-ahead. Identify any variance and propose mitigations.
- Conduct assessments and audits (PTW, POWRA & RAMS) to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Monitor allocated work area for compliance in the following areas and address accordingly:
- PPE
- Access and Egress
- Waste management
- Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and documentation.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor the status and condition of temporary works, including:
- Lighting
- Scaffolding, including shared use and strip outs/re-erection as required
- power
- Barriers
- Monitor and update Biosite site access as required.
- Foster a culture of safety, excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement during the lifecycle of the project.
- Help to enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations on site to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries. Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate controls.
- Field presence and direct involvement with trades is the priority. The role is not just a policing / checking one but requires active participation in the documented health and safety planning (including approval of the safe working practices, particularly the method statements) and positive intervention during the construction work to ensure tasks are carried out in accordance with the method statement.
- Provide ad hoc assistance to area leads and assist with any emerging quality issues.
- Trade-based qualification - NVQ, City and Guilds etc
- CSCS Gold card minimum
- Recognised professional certification in construction site supervision - SSSTS (minimum), ideally SMSTS.
- Substantial experience in supervising complex industrial projects.
- TWS (temporary works supervisor) is advantageous but not essential.
